These whiskey cocktail recipes are the bee’s knees—perfect for sharing at any gathering.

The Best Old-Fashioned in
Kansas City

  • 2 oz KC Whiskey 

    ¼ oz maple syrup 

    2 dashes Angostura 

    1 drop chocolate bitters 

    Maraschino cherry and dried mandarin garnish 

  • Smoke a rocks glass with orange bitters on a barrel stave, and add a large ice cube to the glass. Combine all liquid ingredients and stir on ice. Strain over smoked rocks glass w/ cube. Garnish with dehydrated mandarin and an exquisite cherry. Enjoy! 

ROCKS GLASS

Coalfire Old Fashioned

  • 2 oz American Blended Malt

    1/2 oz toasted marshmallow syrup

    2 dashes Angostura

    8-10 drops chocolate bitters to taste

    Toasted Marshmallow and express orange peel and garnish.

  • Add all ingredients to  the glass OR to a shaker tin to stir over ice. Garnish with orange zest and torch marshmallows on a wooden skewer for garnish.

ROCKS GLASS

Horsefeather

  • 1 ½ oz KC Whiskey 

    2 dashes Angostura 

    Splash of lemon juice 

    Ginger beer 

    Dried lemon 

  • Add whiskey, bitters, and lemon juice to a glass. Ice about three quarters full and top up with ginger beer. Garnish with a dried lemon. 

HIGHBALL GLASS

Barrel-Aged Manhattan

  • 2 oz KC Whiskey 

    1 oz sweet vermouth blend 

    2 Dashes Angostura Bitters

    Orange zest garnish 

  • Add ingredients to mixing glass. Ice, stir, strain, and garnish with orange zest after expressing over top of the glass. Bonus points for rubbing zest along the rim, bowl, and/or stem of the coupe glass. Served UP!

  • Four bottles of whiskey per two bottles of vermouth. 2 ounces angostura bitters. Rest in 5 Liter barrel.

COUPE GLASS

Bottoms Sour

  • 1 ½ oz KC Whiskey

    1 oz lemon juice

    ½ oz simple syrup

    ¾ oz egg white

    Angostura garnish

  • Add all ingredients to a shaker. Dry shake (i.e., without ice) for about ten seconds. Add ice, shake, and double strain into a glass. Let settle briefly and garnish with Angostura bitters from a dropper bottle.

Honeycrisp

  • 1 ½ oz KC Whiskey 

    ¾ oz honey syrup 

    ¾ oz lemon juice 

    ¼ oz sherry 

    Three shakes cinnamon 

  • Add all ingredients to a shaker. Shake over ice, double strain and serve.

  • 1.5 oz KC Whiskey

    0.75 oz lemon juice

    0.5 oz sour cherry syrup

    0.5 oz simple syrup

    Club Soda

    Fresh Lemon Peel

    Chocolate coffee sprinkle garnish 

  • Fill decorative rocks glass approximately 1/3 full with ice. Add ice, KC Whiskey, lemon juice, sour cherry syrup and simple syrup to a shaker.  Shake, and strain into decorative rocks glass.  Top off with club soda, then stir the cocktail a few times to blend in the club soda.  Garnished with fresh lemon peel after expressing over the cocktail, and served with a small metal straw.

Rusty Nail

  • 1 ½ oz American Blended Malt Whiskey 

    ¾ oz Drambuie 

  • Add American Blended Malt with Drambuie, stir over ice, strain and express and garnish with orange peel. Serve over large cube.

Whiskey Waker

  • 1 ½ oz KC Whiskey 

    1 ½ oz cold brew 

    ½ oz maple syrup 

    ½ oz cream 

    2 shakes cinnamon 

    Chocolate coffee sprinkle garnish 

  • Add all ingredients (minus coffee grounds) to shaker. Ice, shake, and double strain into a glass. Let settle briefly before sprinkling lightly with chocolate coffee grounds.
